Daily Devotional: JANUARY 9TH, 2021 – THE FOCUS OF HONOURING GOD

1 Samuel: 2. 30.

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

There is no hard and fast rule with regards to the first fruit. The focus is simply on honoring God. Honor should be the gauge with which you measure what you should give as the first fruit. For example, if you feel that giving the first-week income of a new year does not honor God sufficiently at your level, do not give it because it is not honor. Step it up! But that may be honor for someone else at another level, it is personal.

So, do not give your first in competition with someone else or to show off.  Give what you consider honor at your level. Some persons give their first fruit every year by giving their first month’s income. They are giving according to what they consider honor.

You are also supposed to give according to what you consider honor to God. It may be the income of your first day, first week, first month, first one thousand, etc. As long as it is first, then it is the first fruit. Therefore, whether you give the first of regular, the best of incomes, or a new income, or even a combination of all the types of firstfruits; ensure to honor God with it. Glory to God!

Prophecy 1: May you be approved before God today in Jesus’ name.

Prophecy 2: As you step out today, may your joy be full as a river in Jesus’ name.

Action Points

W: Consider what you must give to honor God and do not hesitate to fulfill it.

X: I decree and I declare that sin has no place in me!

Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of this new day and the privilege to see the first month of this year 2021. I declare that I am yours and I will do your will. Cause me to experience divine acceleration in all that I do today, that I may show forth your glory. I consecrate my whole body, soul and spirit to you right now, and I surrender my will to you today in Jesus Name. Amen.
