DEVELOP A GRATEFUL HEART – Daily Devotional

SCRIPTURAL TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18

In everything, give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you

December 3rd

In bringing up children, parents sometimes find themselves reminding their children to be thankful for things done for them or for things given to them. In the same way, Christians should learn to show gratitude to God for everything done in their lives rather than asking continuously for other things or showing anxiety over things not yet done.

In our scriptural text, the bible says it is the will of God for us to give thanks in everything, whether good or bad, little or surplus. This is not an easy task. However, Jesus is our perfect example, when he accepted the will of God against his own will, and he gave thanks. When he was faced with different situations, he always gave thanks.

Be deliberate about expressing gratitude for everything and at all times. Program your heart to see the hand of God in everything. Yes, even that seemingly bad situation could have been worse if not for God. What he has done for you is greater than the things that still seem undone. Therefore, live with gratitude. Thank you Jesus!

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Dear Father, help me to be grateful always in
Jesus name.

PRAYER FOR MADAGASCAR
Background: Animism prevails with strong Muslim influence in the north and northwest of Madagascar, and 80% of the south is still nonChristian. Inaccessibility is the greatest challenge, and missionaries have thus far failed to penetrate these regions effectively.

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Ps 122:6)

PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
We pray that the Lord will visit the church with the spirit of unity and oneness like He did in the early church in Jesus name.

PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father in the name of Jesus, we cry for a release of your mercy upon every unsaved soul in this city and its environs, that they will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
