SCRIPTURAL TEXT: GEN 20:14
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the
table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of
God and man.
Our world today, seems to be plagued with difficult times; from the
ravenous effect of the global pandemic, to inflation, climate change and
economic meltdown; poverty and hunger continue to spread fast across
the nations. These however, are interesting times for the believer, who builds his
momentum in the God of the Universe.
Daniel found himself in a quite similar situation in his day. As a slave in a strange land, he sure had nothing to his name, except his slavery, neither was he to expect any good. Yet, we see Daniel not only surviving, but,
thriving against all odds! He enjoyed favor in a strange and a harsh land, as a slave. His secret? Daniel decided against all odds to please God and not defile himself with the king’s portion according to the law of God in his day.
This committed God to him, Who also brought him into favour with the officials! (Daniel 1:8,9)
This is a powerful key for your contemplation today. Are there areas of your life where you are compromising on the principles and standards of God? Those who observe lying vanities, forsake their own mercy.
Daniel had every reason to compromise, but he chose instead to not forsake mercy and truth. If you would make the same
commitment, the same allocation of favor is available to you today. So, forsake not mercy and truth!

Dear Father, I receive grace to walk in the truth and not compromise my faith in Jesus name
