WHAT DO YOU SEE? – Daily Devotional

Scriptural Text:
(Genesis 13:14-15 KJV)
“And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.”

January 1st

📝 A new year usually comes with renewed hope, renewed courage and inspiration, new goals, new opportunities, etc., for the year. However, what you see about the New Year will go a long way to determining how the year will be. If you have failed in previous years, it is easy to keep your head down and expect it to continue this New Year. But, God has shown us how to overcome this.

Our scriptural text today shows us a scenario of how God taught Abraham to lift up his head and see his inheritance. Abraham had been without a child for so long, and he had already accepted that his steward would be his heir (Genesis 15:2). God was showing him a way to overcome that mindset- thus, He asked Abraham to lift up his eyes to see. Notice that he first had to lift up his eyes before he could see. This requires effort.

When a person experiences delay for a long time, there is a tendency to get used to the situation and not expect a change. That is why we must learn to consciously lift up our eyes to see the promises of God for us. Do not be like the flea that would not fly out even when the lid of the jar was removed. The limits were taken off you the moment you gave your life to Christ.

So, deliberately lift up your eyes, by taking your focus away from your past failures. Look into the new year and see all the great things that you will accomplish to the glory of God. Amen!

🙌🏾 PRAYER FOR THE DAY:

Dear Father, open my eyes to see all that you have prepared for me in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER FOR MALI 🇲🇱

Background: Mali has 60% of its populace unreached with the Gospel. Islam is the largest religion. The Church is taking root, however, the number of Christians has not increased enough even to keep pace with Mali’s rapid population growth.

We are praying for boldness, passion, and a burden for the unsaved to awaken in the churches and for a new wave of evangelism such as that happened in the 1980s.

Prayer for Leaders/nation: We pray for the President of this nation that you would grant him grace to know how to unify the country.

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Psa. 122:6).

PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for establishing the church in faith in Jesus’s name.

PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for your will that no man should perish but that all should come to repentance.
