ENGAGE IN MEDITATIVE PRAYERS – Daily Devotional

SCRIPTURAL TEXT: PSALMS 119:18)

I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.

August 4th

Scriptural Text

(Psalms 119:148)

I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.

Meditation is the act of focusing all your attention on a specific thing while tuning out everything else around you. It is a practice of training the mind to think on only the thing(s) you want it to. Meditation is only possible in a quiet environment that is why the psalmist in our opening scripture says “I stay awake through the night” because he knows the night is quieter than day time.

Many Christians today are quick to engage in prayers when faced with situations, but very few are able to stay and mediate on what the word of God says about that situation. It is important to take our problems to God in prayers, but it is in the place of meditation that we believe for an answer. Therefore, rather than meditating on the problem, which makes it grow bigger, because what you focus on grows, meditate on the Word of God and His promises to you. When faced with a situation, do not stop at praying, go further into meditation.

Decide today to always engage in meditation. Meditate on the Word of God, meditate on who God is, meditate on your answers, do this until you get a sure word from God. As you meditate, your answer will begin to gravitate towards you. Amen!

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Dear Father, I pray that your word will be my daily meditation and not my situation or challenges in Jesus name.

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL

Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Ps 122:6).

PRAYER FOR THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH

We pray and declare that the body of Christ will have one mind; that they speak with one voice, mission, and purpose on earth in Jesus name.

PRAYERS FOR NATIONS (kazakhstan)

54% are unreached with the Gospel. Harassment from authorities, from strident Muslims and from unbelieving family members makes life difficult, especially for converts. Unconstitutional laws on registering churches are complicated by obstructionism for those who try to register, and heavy fines for those who do not.

Y: We are praying that in the face of increasing opposition and growing theological diversity, believers may stay united.

PRAYERS FOR NATIONS/LEADERS

May the President find the right advisors that will give him wise counsel. Expose and remove wrong people around him that are up to no good.

PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL

Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for purchasing salvation for us on the cross of Calvary through the death, burial, and resurrection of your son, we pray that many will discover this love and surrender to your Lordship in their lives.
