SHOW KINDNESS – Daily Devotional

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)

The dictionary defines kindness as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. It is a virtue that reflects the heart of our Heavenly Father, who showers us with unconditional love and grace. As believers, our opening text shows us that we are called to embody this kindness and extend it to others.

Kindness is more than just being nice or polite. It involves compassion, empathy, and a willingness to help others. It means putting the needs of others before your own and seeking to make a positive difference in their lives. The Lord Jesus exemplified kindness in every aspect of His life. He welcomed the outcast, healed the broken-hearted, and extended forgiveness to those who least deserved it.

Moreover, kindness is not solely reserved for those who are easy to love or agree with. Rather, it is even in our interactions with those who challenge us that kindness can easily be demonstrated. When we choose to respond with kindness in the face of conflict or disagreement, we model Christ’s love and reveal a more excellent way to engage with others.

The Bible shows us that kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). In other words, it is one of the ways the Spirit of God manifests in our lives, and through us to touch the lives of others. When we show kindness to someone, we are communicating that they are valued and loved. This can make a huge difference in the life of the recipient, especially if they are going through a difficult time.

Therefore, today, look out for opportunities to show kindness, not just in grand gestures but in the simple acts of listening, encouraging, and serving others. And in doing so, you will reflect the heart of Christ and help others to experience the boundless love of God.
