Every day, as you relate with others in your capacity as a friend, colleague, employer or service provider, people form opinions about you and the quality of the service you provide. These opinions often form the basis of their behaviour towards you, and by learning to tap into those opinions through feedbacks, you can learn to make constructive use of their perception.
In our opening text, we see the example of the Lord Jesus, who thought it necessary to ask His disciples what feedbacks they have been getting about Himself. He was concerned about how He was being perceived by His target audience.
This does not suggest that one has to be swayed by what people think, but evaluating perception can help you identify and correct misconceptions that have the tendency to impact on your productivity. It can also help you measure the level of effectiveness of your method, processes and projects.
Feedback can help you identify areas where you may be lacking in skills or knowledge. It can also help you spotlight blind spots that you may not have noticed, and areas where improvements are needed in your life, career or business.
Thus, you should learn to solicit periodic feedbacks from key stakeholders in your life or business. If you have rendered a service, be open to knowing what the client feels about the service delivery. If you have sold a product, do not stop at celebrating sales. Rather, go further to require your customers to leave a review, so you may be able to measure how effectively your product meets their needs.
Also, as an individual, create an environment that encourages feedback from your mentors, trusted friends etc. as this is important for your growth and increased productivity.
